DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS

Role: Director of Photography

Client: Apple Music

Artist: Bad Bunny

Director: Steven Pyne

Production Company: Apple Music

Overview: A sit-down conversation between Zane Lowe and Bad Bunny filmed in Santurce, Puerto Rico, days before the release of Debí Tirar Más Fotos. The interview explores the inspiration behind the album and Bad Bunny's relationship with Puerto Rico.

Creative Challenge: This was my second collaboration with Bad Bunny for Apple Music. Projects of this scale demand a balance between speed, discretion, and technical precision.

Bad Bunny selected a neighborhood coffee shop that he regularly visits, creating a comfortable environment for the conversation while presenting significant production constraints. The location was compact, requiring four cameras, lighting, grip, sound, and crew to operate within a limited footprint without disrupting the atmosphere.

Because the interview was staged against large windows, scheduling became a key creative decision. We chose the time of day to maintain exterior detail while minimizing the amount of artificial lighting required inside the space.

Approach: Zane Lowe's interview style relies heavily on spontaneity and uninterrupted conversation, so preserving flexibility was an important priority. Rather than overbuilding the set, I designed a camera layout that allowed the crew to work quietly while giving both interviewer and artist complete freedom to move naturally through the discussion.

Lessons: Every production teaches something different. This project reinforced how often cinematography is about creating the conditions for an authentic performance rather than drawing attention to the camera itself. The less the equipment influenced the room, the more natural the conversation became.

Production Note: The compact location required close coordination between camera, lighting, sound, and production to keep the footprint minimal while maintaining flexibility for an unscripted conversation.
